In 1998 the National Museums of Scotland opened its doors on the new Museum of Scotland with the mission to 'show Scotland to the World and the World to Scotland'. As Head of Design I was part of the museum's own multimedia team producing over 20 interactive kiosks containing multimedia essays. These cover a wide variety of subjects which complement the cased objects in the galleries. They provide additional interpretation for artefacts that are complex and include The Maiden, Mary Queen of Scots' clarsach, the Bute Mazer, Timothy Pont's maps and the Elllesmere Locomotive. During this time the team also produced a number of ground-breaking interactive programmes as educational resources for Learning Teaching Scotland, temporary exhibitions at the museum e.g. Scotland's Crafts as well as smaller local museums around Scotland such as the Museum nan Eilean in Stornoway which hosted the Lewis Chessmen exhibition.
Animation created using Adobe After Effects showing part of the workings of the Ellesmere Locomotive.
